A nursery should be a perfect blend of style and playfulness.

It is your little one’s first home – therefore the room should boast of warmth and calmness to welcome them into the world.

Your baby’s nursery should also be functional and comfortable for you as a parent, as you will be spending a lot of late nights and mornings in this space.

To get started – a nursery should not portray a loud hue, so it is advisable to opt for classic pastels and soothing neutrals. When it comes to decorating your baby’s nursery, the first element you should pay attention to is safety, so ensure the nursery is well equipped and baby-proofed.

Your concern for your baby’s well-being doesn’t stop at the entrance to the nursery, and neither do our ideas. Here, we’ve included tons of ideas for showering the nursery with designs and essentials so that you and your little ones are comfortable.

As a parent, it is essential to keep that checklist ready. Take a look at these nursery must-haves to include in the space.

1.Choose that perfect light:

A baby’s nursery shouldn’t have bright lights, so invest in a whimsical pendant light that emits soft lighting. Natural light is essential, so invite the rays during the day and blind the window at night with a drape.

2.Ageless furniture:

Investing in ageless, multi-purpose furniture is crucial. For example, opt for a day-bed for feeding purposes, which later can be turned into a big-girl bed, with a trundle for sleepovers.

3.Changing table or…?:

Functional furniture is essential when it comes to a nursery. Instead of investing in a single changing table, opt for a dresser that doubles up into a changing table. This piece will provide storage and will not take up much space in the nursery too.

4.The crib:

Your little one’s crib doesn’t have to be plain white or wood- get creative when it comes to selecting a crib, but ensure its sturdy and well. Choose a bumper with a pattern in hues that complement the nursery’s décor, and make sure the bumper is soft to protect your child. The cot’s mattress needs to be selected carefully as it will not only to provide warmth and comfort for your child but also be safe and secure, allowing the child to breathe freely.

5.Neutral hues:

Don’t be gender-biased when it comes to the design of the nursery. A red and white striped ceiling injects personality into a nursery. And gray walls, along with a blue and white rug, contrast ottoman, and table lamp, complete the playful look.

6.Thinking of the walls:

If you want to give the nursery a defined look, add a bit of character to the walls through the wallpaper. Colorful, floral, animal-themed wallpapers are good choices to implement into your nursery design.

7.Love for themes:

For a farmhouse-style nursery theme, go in for a light wood crib, a white shiplap wall, and a wooden ceiling. A pair of rugs and a tufted side chair will add a cozy vibe to the overall look.

8.Storage solutions:

Hanging shelves filled with toys flank a wooden crib in a nursery design. You can implement some fun to the room by adding colorful storage units beside the crib. Baskets and bins are also good storage options and can be repurposed as the child grows.

9.Reading nooks are essential:

It’s never too early to introduce your baby to books and to foster a love of reading. You can either opt for a rocking chair to soothe the child while reading to her or a clean structured armchair to provide comfort and warmth. The nook should also have a side table or wire baskets for storing books and a blanket or two.

10.Focal points:

Now, every room deserves a focal point. Suppose you want one in the nursery – an exposed brick wall will add character to the room. You can further accentuate the room with a Moroccan pouf and confetti curtain panels to bring life to the atmosphere.

11.A library is a good addition:

Step the story time up a notch by adding a little floating shelf library to display all the favorite bedtime books. The colorful range of books doubles as decor, animating the neutral walls in the nursery.

12.Implement a gallery wall:

Any artwork displayed on the wall always has a story to tell. You could also add some sentimental value to the nursery by creating a gallery wall of family photos or even your baby’s milestone moments.

13.Please bring a personal touch to the walls:

Use a stenciled wallpaper or try out your art skills and paint them on yourself for a whimsical wall covering. For example: if you want the nursery to have an animal theme make the room feel like a circus without being visually chaotic.

14.Choose a cool mobile:

Sweet dreams are made of adorable tiny wooden mobiles. Wooden mobiles on a crib add character and playfulness without skewing cutesy or kitschy.

15. Add textures to the nursery:

Add soft surfaces like sheepskin rugs and pillows to the nursery to bring texture to space.

16.Have you thought about a changing station:

Repurpose a kitchen cart as a storage area for all of your diaper-changing needs, neatly arranging all of the wipes, diapers, toiletries, and burp cloths for easy access.

17.Growth chart:

Your baby will grow quicker than a weed. Install a chart in their room to track his or her height. A rustic arrow with growth markings, a giraffe with markings, and a tree theme are some of the examples for you to choose from.

18.Baby’s closet:

Your baby already may have more clothes than you do, thanks to generous shower gifts from friends and family. Babies grow out of the clothes quickly, and a dedicated clothes storage or wardrobe is a must-have in any child’s room or nursery. Cabinets allow parents to store the clothes neatly in case they plan to have another child. Dressers can double up as a closet with dedicated storage spaces that can also be ideal for keeping all clothes neatly compiled in one place.

19.Think About the future:

One day, your baby will grow into a teenager, so design the room to grow with her. Try pom-pom trimmed curtains, beaded chandeliers, and antique rugs that will into your child’s teen years.
